Historic Building Tour and Happy Hour
Join CREWBaltimore for a historic walking tour of East Redwood Street’s old financial district! The event will begin with a tour of the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company Theater (the former Mercantile Trust & Deposit building) with talks by Theater Director Jean Thompson and renovating architect Khanh Uong. The Theater tour will be followed by a walk down Redwood Street to the offices of Gordon Feinblatt, located in the Garrett Building. The walking tour will be led by Johns Hopkins, Executive Director of the Baltimore Heritage Foundation. He will point out historic buildings along the route, including the former Baltimore Stock Exchange, now the Totman Building, and Merchants Club building, now Chez Hugo, a French bistro. The tour will conclude with happy hour in the second floor reception area of the Garrett Building, a dramatic and stately 2-story space featuring grand marble Corinthian columns and rosetted ceiling: formerly the stock trading floor of Robert Garrett & Sons. At the Garrett Building, Herb Goldman, Gordon Feinblatt’s managing partner for over 30 years, will discuss the building's history, unique features, and historic renovations in the 1980s.
