Director of Animal Services
Sharon Colburn is the Director of Animal Services for the Baltimore City Health Department and has held this position for the past 8 years overseeing the City’s Animal Enforcement and Protection program. Ms. Colburn received a B.S. in Biology from the University of North Florida and has been involved in the animal welfare industry for over 20 years working in and managing a variety of animal facilities from small veterinary practices and surgery centers to larger, strictly regulated facilities such as the National Institutes of Health. Currently, Ms. Colburn and her enforcement team have the privilege of sharing space in a brand new, state-of-the-art animal facility with their non-profit partner, the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS), that was designed and built to increase efficiency, animal health and community engagement.
