Selwyn Ray, J.D.
Director, Community Relations
Selwyn I. Ray, J.D., is director of Johns Hopkins Health System Community Relations. His primary responsibilities are at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Selwyn also has an additional broader role for community health outreach for the Academic Division of the Johns Hopkins Health System.
At Johns Hopkins Bayview, Selwyn oversees programs to educate and support our neighbors; lead the Medical Center’s Community Advisory Board; lead our community health needs assessment and action planning; and participate as a member of our Executive Council. Within the larger Academic Division, he helps develop and strengthen inter-campus and inter-departmental programs to improve the health of our neighbors and neighborhoods.
Ray holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law and has pursued studies at St. Mary’s Seminary, Ecumenical Institute of Theology. Before joining Johns Hopkins, he served as executive director and senior vice president of community engagement for the Maryland Mentoring Resource Center. He also was the interim president and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Chesapeake from 2012 to 2013.
