Kristen A. Ernst
Vice President, Virtual Design & Construction
Kristen is a Vice President for The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company out of their headquarters in Towson, MD. She lives in Parkton, Maryland with her husband and two young children.
Kristen has been in the construction industry, and with Whiting-Turner, since graduating from Lehigh University in 2004. At Lehigh, she obtained two bachelor’s degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
In her almost 17 year career, Kristen has held two different management roles for Whiting-Turner - first in Project Management and second in Virtual Design & Construction Management. As Project Manager, she completed 14 projects in Maryland, Washington, DC, and West Virginia – ranging from $500,000 to over $50M.
In 2013, Kristen transferred out of field operations to lead Whiting-Turner’s Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) department. In this position, her responsibilities include directly managing a team of 18 and functional oversight of 60 throughout the East Coast. Additional role responsibilities include advancing Building Information Modeling technology and innovation applications to processes and projects throughout the country; promoting technology outreach and education internally as well as to other members of the industry; coaching and guiding team members to achieve their highest professional potentials; and facilitating the corporate Digital Building Solutions program. She is a frequent presenter for corporate trainings and meetings – as well as project pursuits and general business development outreach.
Internally at Whiting-Turner, Kristen is the National Recruiting leader for Society of Women Engineers and a Group leader for Women of Whiting-Turner.
Kristen currently holds the President position for CREWBaltimore; she’s held the President-Elect and Secretary positions as well since joining CREW in 2014. She is also a Director for NAWICBaltimore.
