Doug is the founder and Principal of Workshop Development. As a young boy growing up in Baltimore, Doug was an avid Lego and wooden block builder. Real estate development is realization of those creative leanings and Doug’s passion. His focus has been on identifying and redeveloping challenging properties. He has gained and expertise in Brownsfields and historic redevelopments, common in the Maryland.
Doug has experience in a variety of product types including retail, office, industrial, multifamily and medical developments. In each case, his approach is to identify the needs of the user, site, investor and the community to create high quality projects that meet stakeholder objectives.
Doug graduated from Duke University in 1989 and subsequently spent the first 16 years of his real estate career at CB Richard Ellis. From local landlord representation to national corporate assignments, Doug enjoyed a diverse experience. He learned from working on a variety of product types with numerous great local developers. In 2005, he co-founded Chesapeake Real Estate Group. The founding of Workshop in 2014 is the formalization of a strategy to focus on urban and ex-urban redevelopment.
