President’s Letter

August 20, 2023

Hello! How are we already in August? I hope you all had a nice summer and found time to rest and recharge.  I wanted to take a moment to update you on our chapter’s successes so far.

  • Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Advocacy (IDEA) – We established a board position for an IDEA Director to oversee the chapter’s IDEA initiatives and newly formed committee.  In addition to offering CREW Network’s three-part Executive DEI series as a free webinar for its members, CREWBaltimore hosted a self-advocacy workshop on International Women’s Day.  We hosted a luncheon on Empowerment, Allyship and Your Role in the DEI “Space” and the committee is busy planning the third event for the year for October, as well as its activities for 2024.
  • Outreach – CREWBaltimore is proud to support CREW Foundation through its UCREW and CREW Careers initiatives.  We met CREW Foundation’s Chapter Challenge in July and will be recognized by CREW Network at the Convention.  We received a number of applications for our scholarship from students at Morgan State University and look forward to announcing the recipient in the upcoming months.  Additionally, the chapter continues its support of My Sister’s Place through donations of supplies and clothing, and members recently donated their time over two days of service.
  • Programming – I hope you’ve been able to participate in the relevant and engaging programming we’ve held for our members and the commercial real estate industry in Greater Baltimore this year.  We’ve hosted a Hard Hat Happy Hour at CFGBank Arena, the Lifecyle of a Project at Top Golf, a Neighborhood Series in Hunt Valley, and our annual State of the State and Women of Influence luncheons.  And there’s more to come!
  • Membership – We’ve welcomed 23 new members to CREWBaltimore.  We’re currently in our mid-year membership drive when new members can join for half price.  Please refer us to those in your network who would benefit from CREW to help further grow our membership!

It goes without saying that we could not accomplish half of what we have done so far this year without the support of our amazing sponsors.  We have the most sponsorship support in 2023 than any previous year!
Looking forward, I’m exciting about our programs – covering IDEA, a neighborhood series, our annual golf tournament, and lastly, the 5th Biennial Beacons Awards on November 9th at The Engineers Club.

Our committees are all hard at work to further the mission of CREW Network and achieve the goals laid out in our five-year Strategic Plan.  I encourage you all to take advantage of the benefits of your membership.  As always, your feedback and suggestions are invaluable, so please share any you have with me.  I look forward to the rest of 2023!

With appreciation,

Erin Todd
