Why did you join CREWBaltimore? What makes CREWBaltimore different?
There are a number of women in my office and firm who were current or past members and recommended I join to help advance my career, learn more about the industry, and connect with women in the local real estate market. CREWBaltimore has always been a welcoming group and it has been very easy to meet people. The programs are relevant and interesting, so it also goes beyond networking.
How long have you been a CREWBaltimore member / member company?
I joined in 2016. My company has been a sponsor as long as I can remember.
In 2-3 sentences, what do you want CREWBaltimore members to know about your company?
Real estate is one of CohnReznick's largest industries and has been since the firm was founded, so we have a long history of servicing clients in all aspects of the industry. We are a national firm with a local presence and our employees are passionate about delivering unparalleled industry expertise and client service.
Which CREWBaltimore event have you most enjoyed in the past year and why?
I think the chapter has done a great job of adapting the programs over the past year - I've liked the break out rooms during each of the events to meet and talk with people I otherwise may not have met. I always enjoy the Women of Influence luncheon, it's very inspiring and empowering.
Best weekend activity in Baltimore?
I live in Fells Point and love walking around the waterfront promenade, especially on one of the unseasonably warm days we've had recently. Going to Sherwood Gardens in the spring when the tulips are blooming is also not to be missed!
What are the benefits of women supporting women in the CRE industry?
Having female leaders to advocate and support their peers in the industry will give us the edge when it comes to career development. We are faced with many challenges, so having a supportive professional network can make all of the difference in having the confidence needed to keep moving forward.
Best book or article you’ve read that had you fired up to take on the day/week/year at work?
It is not work related, but I have been reading a number of different articles on social justice, which have opened my eyes more and made me more focused on promoting a diverse work team and teaching my daughters the importance of kindness and acceptance.
Which CREWBaltimore event are you most excited about this year [2021]?
The Neighborhood Series - I'm from Baltimore and live in the city but there are still so many areas that I'm not familiar with, so I'm excited to learn more about the different neighborhoods.
Tell us about a project, program or initiative that your company will be working on in [2021].
We have a recent campaign that will continue in to 2021 on "Building Trust" - a series of articles, videos, webinars, and local panels on rethinking the real estate industry's future amid and after the disruptions of COVID-19. It focuses on rewriting strategies for finance, mangement, planning, risk control, and design. Connected with this, we have a "Women in Real Estate Weigh In" video series, with conversations between CohnReznick and industry leaders on the topic.
